Biography

Earl “Joe” Pendergrass, age 90, of Waxahachie, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010 at the Lancaster Nursing and Rehab. He was born January 17, 1920 in Grapeland, Texas. Joe was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an Honorably Discharged decorated U. S. Army WWII Veteran, having been wounded 3 times. He began serving his Country as a young man in the First Calvary, where he was on the front lines in Italy, Germany and North Africa. Joe was an avid woodworker.

Survivors include his wife, Ada Pendergrass of Waxahachie; daughter, Linda Jo Rawlings and husband John of Waxahachie; grandchildren, Lisa Tignor and husband Brad of Allen and Kelley Rawlings and wife Dr. Beth Rawlings of Omaha; two great granddaughters, Ella Mary Rawlings and Lydia Grace Rawlings and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Pendergrass.

The family will receive friends from Noon until 1PM Monday, March 15, 2010 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home. Funeral services with military honors will follow at 2PM at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Rawlings, Kelley Rawlings, Brad Tignor, Elmo Reeves, Gary Kemp Rawlings and Bill Spence.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
